Can I enroll in Behind-the-Wheel on-line?

To enroll in Behind-the-Wheel your parents or guardians will need to come down to our office since forms need to be signed and a certificate needs to be issued.

What are the requirements to get a Permit?

Step One for getting a permit is to enroll in a Drivers Ed. Program at a DMV certified school.

If you are between the ages of 15 ½ & 17 ½ DMV has dictated that anyone applying for a Learner's Permit must complete Driver’s Ed at a DMV certified school (ALOHA is a DMV certified school License #4146).

DMV will also need to see your original birth certificate & social security card.

You will need to fill out a DMV application for a permit and it must be signed by a parent or legal guardian if you are under 18; you will also have to pay DMV $31 to get your permit.

You do not have to have an appointment at DMV to take the written test at DMV (but it is recommended that you do).

You cannot miss more than 8 to pass the test. If you fail the permit test you will have to wait one (1) week before re-testing.

Once you pass the permit test call ALOHA to book your first Behind-the-Wheel lesson.

What does it mean to be “enrolled in Behind-the-Wheel”?

If you are between the ages of 15 ½ & 17 ½ DMV has dictated that anyone applying for a Learner's Permit must complete Driver’s Ed and have a Certificate-of-Completion to prove that Driver's Ed was completed at a DMV certified school (ALOHA is a DMV certified school license #4146).

Being “enrolled in Behind-the-Wheel” simply means you enroll and pay for Behind-the-Wheel at a DMV certified school prior to going to DMV to take the written test.  This is not a must but we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to enroll in our driving program prior to going to DMV to insure that up on arriving at the DMV you have all of the proper certificate, application, documentation and signatures required to be allowed to take the permit test.  DMV is very specific in what they will and will not accept. At ALOHA we pride ourselves on having you prepared when you arrive at the DMV.  If you have not heard about The ALOHA "Sacred Golden Envelope", you will if you come see us before going to the DMV, it will save you lots of time and lots of stress!

Nearly all of the students who come to ALOHA for Classroom Driver’s Ed. are also enrolled in Behind-the-Wheel. This allows students to receive the required certificate and application upon completion classroom Driver’s Education.

I took my Drivers Education elsewhere, can I sign up for Behind-the-Wheel at Aloha?

Yes, you can take Behind-the-Wheel at ALOHA even if you have taken Driver’s Ed. elsewhere.

Please come to our office at 1857 First St. during our office hours to enroll.

Office hours are Mon-Thurs 3:30-6:00.

Does ALOHA pick me up for my Behind-the-Wheel lessons?*

Yes, we pick-up from home or school and some places in between.
*If you live out of the area, then different arrangements may be made.

How long are Behind-the-Wheel lessons?

Driving lessons are 2-hours in length and are completely private.

What are the requirements to get a License?

If you are under 18, you need to be complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training at a certified DMV school and be issued a behind-the-wheel certificate-of-completion.

You need to drive a minimum of 50 hours with a licensed CA driver over the age of 25 (10 of the 50 hours must be night driving).

You need to be at least 16 years of age with parental or legal guardian approval and you will need to pass a driving test at DMV.

You MUST have an appointment to take the drive test at DMV.

What are the restrictions for a Provisional License?

If you are under 18 during the first 12 months of being licensed you are not allowed to drive between 11 PM – 5 AM and you are not allowed to transport passengers under 20 years old.

Once your 12 months is up (or if you turn 18) these restrictions no longer apply.

I lost my certificate, can I get a new one?

Yes. If ALOHA issued the original certificate we can replace it.

Aloha will replace your certificate for a processing fee of $50.00.

"I never thought I would be READY to let my little boy get behind the wheel of car. After having him attend Aloha, I am confident that he is well equiped with the knowledge and experience to do so. I am very pleased with the classroom instruction and the behind the wheel that he received. I couldn't have chosen a better school for Brandon. Karen, thank you for developing a fine young driver for our roads."
